We had the good luck of finding the Fresh Breeze Inn while exploring Chacala by foot. There was a nice breeze there that afternoon making it considerably cooler then the rest of town. We rented Apartment 2 that happened to be available at the time. The queen bed was very comfortable and having good coffee beans that were provided by Lance got our days there going nicely. The bungalow was clean and very well maintained. The view of the town and the ocean was really enjoyable. We even saw whales in the bay from the Inn. Lance gave us trail maps of the surrounding area and even went hiking with Lucille and I. he sure knows the area well and provided lots of good information. I highly recommend the Inn and Chacala as a place to unwind and enjoy a quiet tropical paradise.

We recently spend 10 very lovely days in the seaside village of Chacala.  Chacala is in the Mexican state of Nayarit and is located about 100 miles north of the metropolitan area of Puerto Vallarta (stateside air connections).  Chacala’s newest vacation rental inn is the Fresh Breeze Inn – La Posada Brisa Fresca, a charming three apartment inn located above the majority of the town. Brisa Fresca is owned and operated by Lance, a totally charming host who lives at the inn.  We stayed in the third floor rooms which are the largest, and being the highest, afford the best view of the town, the ocean to the west and vistas to the south.  Two smaller apartments on the ground floor are perfectly acceptable accommodations, including an outside patio area, a kitchen/dining area, bedroom and bath. The top floor of the inn is a common area deck with great views of the surrounding country.  We enjoyed hikes on the beach, which is lined with a variety of restaurants and bars, a trip out on the ocean for whale watching, a trip to the local market in a neighboring town, and a trip to a wildlife preserve to watch birds, crocodiles, and other wildlife.  If you “google” Chacala you will find a dozen or more lovely photos of the beach area, the marina, and various parts of town.  We heartily recommend La Posada Brisa Fresca as a destination for good food, a great beach, friendly locals and a chance to kick back and just relax.

My two friends and I just returned from a week at Chacala’s Fresh Breeze Inn, an airy, clean, pretty and comfortable three-story inn overlooking Chacala.  Two of us stayed in the third floor studio which has great views, queen bed and futon and a nicely-equipped kitchen, complete with coffee beans and beach towels.  While at the Inn we breakfasted on fresh papaya while watching for whales, waiting for the orange-juice lady to stroll by in the mornings or enjoying the sounds of living in a village in Mexico. A band practiced nearby late one afternoon, roosters crowed, birds chirped and neighbors shared their favorite songs. The Fresh Breeze patio is a technicolor delight of flowers and exotic plants where we shared grilled fish in the evening.

The beach is an easy stroll of maybe 7 minutes through the cobblestoned village to the perfect little waves and soft sand of the bay.  We tested out the four or five palapa (palm-roofed places in the sand) restaurants that all served fresh fish and guacamole at good prices.  Lance helped us find hiking paths, early bird walks, and Huichol ritual sites.  While Chacala is a little paradise, Fresh Breeze Inn was the perfect home-base for enjoying it.  I give it 5 stars.
