The Chacala to Playa las Cuevas hike is moderately difficult. It’s about an hour and a half to and from the beautiful and serene cove beach with small waves and no “development”.
The Gated community of Orofino does not want people walking by the houses. To get to Las Cuevas you must either take the new trail or walk by the goat farm. The trail between trail markers 10 and 13 is now covered by jungle growth.

You need a special down-loaded plug-in to get it to appear in Google Earth; however, you may view it in map or terrain mode. The + in the map will enlarge the trail and trail icons.
